After two miscarriages, Peter was born in 1957. The next 28 years of her life were happy ones, though not at all easy because her husband was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, a degenerative condition that causes a lot of pain and has many side-effects.

Her time was spent bringing up Peter and helping Janek manage his condition. She also worked part-time at Boots the Chemist and at Liberty.
